"Mah-waan, Mah-waan" (Welcome in our language of Tiwa)
Picuris Pueblo is nestled in a setting of serene beauty in what is known as the “hidden valley” of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico. It is located just 60 miles north of Santa Fe, and 24 miles southeast of Taos on scenic Route 76. Our tranquil village rests along the banks of the Rio Pueblo River, which nourishes the evergreens, cottonwoods, grasses and flowers that blanket our valley and surrounding mountains.
When you visit Picuris you will have the opportunity to fish, hike, tour ancient ruins, eat traditional foods, watch our bison herd, visit our museum, and shop in our gift shop filled with beautiful arts and crafts. Or join us for one of our colorful celebrations that include dances, arts and crafts, and other festivities, as listed in our events calendar. We invite you to join us and partake of the natural beauty and traditional way of life.
